Val met her grandson for the first time a week or so before Val died in the fall of 2009. Dakota, Val's daughter, had to bury her mother way too soon. Dakota and friends of Val celebrated a life Val designed with zest, creativity, incredible talent as a singer and writer. Her sense of humor and bundle of emotions made Val a unique and memorable friend. May she rest in peace.
